Problems with guitar amp/wah pedal?

I own a line 6 spider iii 15 watt amplifier. I just bought the original cry baby from dunlop, and after plugging it in, it doesn't seem to have much of an effect. I can hear a slight "wah" noise, but nothing crazy. Is there a way to toggle the settings of the amp or cry baby to make the "wah"
